Do You Have To Start A Business To Be Successful

Do you usually see people on social media going on crazy vacations and having expensive cars? Maybe that’s why you want to be an entrepreneur too? The question is, do you have to start a business to be successful?

First, let’s define what success means.

What is the definition of success?

“That success is nothing more than the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.”

Earl Nightingale

That means anyone is successful as long as they know what they want and are working to achieve their goals. Success does not always mean financial success. Take, for example, a mother. A mother raising a child, caring for a child, and giving love to a child, giving me everything she has for me that is successful. A scientist working on a project, working on an invention, I think. For me, that he is a very successful person.

Again, success does not mean financial success. Anyone who has a great quality of life in my view is a successful person. Because I know there are a lot of people, a lot of young people on social networks, you would look at someone on YouTube, you would look at someone on Instagram, anywhere you notice, Oh, you know what, they are flying in a private jet, they have this great life and that I want and that is successful. I want to be an entrepreneur, well, you know, so you’re meeting other people’s expectations. And you can never meet other people’s expectations. It is very difficult to find joy and satisfaction when you try to be someone you are not. So I don’t think everyone should be an entrepreneur. Just like I don’t think everyone should try to make a living full time being a professional basketball player, professional soccer player, professional athlete, or professional musician. It is not for everyone.

The same with entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is not for everyone. Entrepreneurs very often realize that they are a strange type of a special race of people. They are a little weird, a little strange. They are not like everyone else. They don’t think like anyone else. And yes, there are skill sets you could develop that would increase your chances of being a successful entrepreneur. However, I believe that most of the time, that entrepreneurs are born, they are not made. So I don’t think everyone should start a business. I think most people shouldn’t start a business. It is a good idea that they do not start a business because they do not know what they are getting into.

However, I think everyone should be investors. Everyone should know how money works. How do you read finances, how do you make your money work for you? How do we invest in the long term so that you can retire comfortably because the school does not teach us how money works? That is a problem. That is our job. That is our responsibility to learn how money works. No matter how you earn a living as an employee, as a business owner, as an athlete, as a musician, whatever you do, no matter how you earn your money, that’s fine. But how you manage and grow your money, that’s your job.
